Learning Commons News/Help Needed
The Learning Commons is looking forward to some activities this January:
- The students have had scheduled time and free time to add to the creation of two large God’s Eyes. As we soar to new places around the world, and learn about cultures, we are stopping to do some crafts. The God’s Eye, also known as Ojo De Dios, comes from our Mexican American indigenous friends, and our project will add to our LComm décor. Feel free to stop in and check out their great work!
- Family Literacy Day is Sunday, January 27, 2019. In order to prepare for this day, the K-6 classes will be using their LComm time to create poems, stories and illustrations. To celebrate Family Literacy Day, we are asking that parents come and read with their child during your students scheduled LComm time. Having an adult read aloud helps children learn listening, vocabulary and language skills, and develop imagination and creativity. When the joy of reading is shared, it models reading for life! Contact your teacher or Mrs. Johnston if you are available to read with your child and others. Email Mrs. Johnston at firstname.lastname@example.org
- The Learning Commons is looking for yarn donations. Any type, style or colour! Lunch times have become a STEAM time for interested students, and currently we are working on Pom Pom wall décor.
Thanks in advance for your support, volunteering and donations!
