Canadian Wildlife Federation

A huge thank you to goes out to the Canadian Wildlife Federation for sharing one of their spectacular 30×40 foot North American maps with us to study some of the migration routes of many of our North American species.  Students were amazed to see how far some of our great whales travel from the warm waters of Mexico all the way to the frigid Arctic Ocean or the Pacific Sockeye Salmon who spends most of its life deep in the Ocean only to come back upstream into our BC coastal rivers to spawn.  Or even the Monarch Butterfly who travels from North Eastern US down to the tip of Mexico.  Seeing migration routes that cover thousands of kilometers is quite astounding especially when you consider the distances and challenges species must face with that migration.  It makes us appreciate how unique many of our species are, and just how far those Canadian Geese must travel South in the Fall.  Some great hands on learning!
