3-Ellis Friday March 2nd

Hi families. Wow! So, welcome to Friday. Just look at that snow. Should’ve, could’ve, would’ve been a snow day!

Thank you once again parents for coming through and making yesterday’s field trip possible and a success. The day helped to sum up much of what we have been learning in this unit in science. We will finish off our own in-class sound centres next week and quiz this topic shortly after.

In math, review your multiples of 4. This helps you with multiplication by 4 and also with your division by 4. Know your multiples; and of course, know what we mean by the word “multiple”. (I’m not saying “multiply”. I’m saying “MULTIPLE”). And know your number family with multiplication and division so you can do this;  4 x 3 = 12, therefore,  12  divided by 4 = 3.   Or 20 divided by 4 = 5, therefore, 4 x 5 = 20  (or 5 x 4).  Understand this. Draw a picture if you have to. Remember to say your definitions so you understand what it is you are doing.

It’s snowing cats and dogs out there, and now there IS a blanket of snow on the ground. Goodbye metaphors and similes; you are like words from heaven; NO……you ARE words from heaven! Word work…..we are finishing unit 18 and starting unit 19. Quiz on unit 18 this Monday.

SHOVELING ALL NIGHT LONG

One day it snowed, snowed real hard

Up against the fence in my backyard

It didn't let up until the dark of night

And when my dad got home the whole world was white

He grabbed a shovel, hiked to the road

Began to dig that driveway, clear that snow

I jumped in my snowsuit, I ran out the door

I said "Can I help?" My dad said, "Sure! grab a shovel",

We're shovelling He took his coat off Shovelling, just me and my dad We're shovelling shovelling shovelling all night long.

I said "Hey Daddy Daddy Daddy-oh

let's build a snowman in the snow"

He said "No, we're shovelling, now get to work!"

Shovelling shovelling shovelling all night long.

I said "Hey Daddy Daddy Daddy-oh

let's build an igloo in the snow"

He said "No, we're shovelling, are you helping me or what?"

Shovelling shovelling shovelling all night long.

I said "Hey Daddy Daddy Daddy-oh

let's make an angel in the snow"

Well he stopped and turned to me real slow

he said "Isn't it about your... bedtime?" I said "No no no no no no nooooo... No! I'm helping, Dad,

I'm shovelling, I am!" Shovelling shovelling shovelling all night long.

When we finished it sure looked good

We had the cleanest driveway in the neighborhood

I came inside I went straight to sleep

Woke up next morning... The snow was four feet deep

He said, "SCHOOLS CLOSED!!!!"

Ya, shovelling shovelling shovelling all day long!!
