Readers Workshop 8C

Today the students worked on thier plot outline for the short story, The Monkey's Paw.  They have already completed two formative plot outlines and received feed back for the one they completed on the short story, The Tell Tale Heart.  The plot outline for the Monkey's Paw is due on Wednesday February 28.  The order of the outline should be as follows:

                Beginning events:  (Events that come before the Initial Incident)

Initial Incident:  (what the problem that needs to be solved)

Conflict:  (Type of conflict with description)

Rising Action:  (10 major events that help move the story forward and are descriptive)

Climax:  (the highest point of suspense and where the problem is solved)

Falling Action:

Denouement:

Theme:  (the lesson or idea that the author is trying to get across to society; it is a statement NOT just one word)

Author Tools: (with direct information from text; can use quotes but explain how it is what it is)
