Kindergarten Update November 24
Today we had our first lesson of using the letters we know to form consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) words, like pat, bat, tap. Students practiced blending letter sounds together to form words. If you want to practice this at home, the letter sounds we know so far are p, b, t, d, f, v, k, g, and superstar a. We also practiced our two songs for the Christmas concert, and the students impressed me with how well they already know the words and actions! We spent all afternoon with our grade 4 buddies. We went on a nature walk together, then our buddies helped us paint life-sized cut-outs of the kindergarten students. Watch for these to go up in the hallway soon!
Book order forms went home today. This is the last book order before Christmas, and to make sure the books arrive before our winter break, please make sure you return your order from by next Thursday, November 30.
Please see the letter below from our wonderful music teacher, Mrs. Jones, regarding the Christmas concert:
Good afternoon parents, guardians and students:
All classes K-5 have been hard at work with Christmas Concert rehearsals and preparations. I have listed below a bit of reminder information regarding Christmas Concert dates, times and as well as costume information.
Students will be asked to arrive for no later then 6:10pm to their homeroom classroom on the night of their concert. The concert should conclude around the 8:30 pm mark. I will have a better idea of this once we have a chance to run through our full dress rehearsals on the afternoons of Monday December 11th and Tuesday December 12th.
Kindergarten students will be performing 2 songs in the production.
Grade 1's and 2's will be performing 2 songs together and then will be re-joining the grade 3-5's for the very last song at the end of the production.
There is no special costume required for students in kindergarten, grade 1 or grade 2. Students are welcome to wear something that would be suitable for a concert performance. Dressing in a “holiday outfit” or in Christmas colours would also be suitable. If you have any questions please feel free to email me at email@example.com
I will be in touch if more details come to me!
