A little information/sales-pitch went home today for Epic! - a website with hundreds of "eBooks" or online versions of popular books. I am always hesitant to send this kind of thing and have held off for a while until I felt comfortable with the platform. It is important to note that we do use the site at school (they provide it free to us to use during school time) but to use it at home requires a monthly fee. I would encourage you to consider Epic if you: have a hard time keeping up with your child's reading appetite and would like a source of books (they bill themselves as the "Netflix of kids books" and I think that is a helpful comparison; or, you want to have more books for your child to read but even sources like Scholastic are still a little too expensive. This site is NOT for everyone, but it is pretty great. To see it yourself, follow the instructions on the note sent home to get a free one-month trial.

A program called Jacket Racket is coming up: This is an event supported by the Okotoks United Church, as a winter clothing exchange  - volunteers are needed to support this event. Parents have days within Oct 21-26 to pick up free winter clothing for their family. For more Info: http://westmount.fsd38.ab.ca/view.php?action=object&id=3291&stream=News

We have been active on Google Classroom the last few days - students have been looking for big numbers IN THE REAL WORLD - and we have found some interesting things! Students should have something submitted to the discussion by Friday! We have also been working on finding information about Food Chains for Science - some links can be found on Classroom, and students should be able to show you their work on Google Drive to show you what we've got so far!
