6S News Oct. 3

There will be no spelling this week because of the short week.

In Math, we are finishing up our work on our place value unit and will wrap it up tomorrow. Some students may have brought home their red duo-tang to finish up any assignments. If your child brings home homework, please remind them to make sure it gets back to school the following day!

In Science, we have been examining the value of trees and forests, the forest ecosystem and food chains. Students completed several activities for assessment.

In Language Arts, we have almost completed our novel study - The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. We will begin the novel - The Breadwinner after Thanksgiving.

CAMP CHIEF HECTO IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Dear Grade 6 Families,

We will be going ahead with Selling Lamontagne Chocolates for our grade 6 fundraiser to help offset the costs of attending Camp Chief Hector. Chocolates come in cases with 30 boxes/case. Each box of chocolates sells for $3.00. Total sales for each case is $90.00. Students will receive $50.00 from each case to offset their camp costs.

CHOCOLATES MUST BE PAID FOR UP FRONT BEFORE STUDENTS CAN TAKE HOME A CASE!

If you want your child to participate in this fundraising event, please send a cheque for $90.00 payable to Westmount School. We will be sending cases home tomorrow for those of you who have chosen to participate. There are cases of chocolate covered almonds, or a nut free variety case.

Please e-mail your child’s classroom teacher tonight if you would like them to bring home a case tomorrow. The campaign will run for approximately two weeks. Happy Selling!
