Kindergarten Campbell September 26
My apologies for the late blog post, yesterday was a busy afternoon and evening of meetings! Our Terry Fox walk was a big success yesterday. A big thank you to all of the parents and students who donated money, and congratulations to the students, who ran or walked several laps of our school field! In the morning, students coloured smiley faces to decorate our classroom, painted blue and green pages in their visual journals, and had gym. In the afternoon we learned our first habit of the seven habits: Be Proactive. See if your child remembers the hand guestures and chant for "Be Proactive! I'm in charge of me!". We read a story about Sammy Squirrel, who was bored, bored, bored, and talked about how being proactive means you are in charge of your own actions and feelings. We can't control what others do, but we can control how we react. We will continue learning about habit 1 over the next several weeks.
Please let me know if you are interested in volunteering in our classroom. I am looking for parents to come in and help out with small group learning (let me know what day and time (morning/afternoon) works best for you), parents to join us on our Tuesday afternoon nature walks, and a parent to make playdough about once a month. A friendly reminder that Scholastic book orders are due tomorrow. Some students have already brought them in! You can pay for your order online, or send in a cheque or cash with your book order.

October 6-9: Thanksgiving Long Weekend. School will be closed.
Friday, October 13: We have school this day! It will also be hotdog day: students can bring $5 to purchase a hotdog, chips, and a drink, which are delivered at lunch. Students still need two healthy snacks, for the morning and afternoon.
